WOW, what a blast Saturday was with the AMCA Sunshine and Everglades annual Thanksgiving chapter ride in Okeechobee. I was quite skeptical with the weather being cold and all, but WHAT A TURN OUT!
Almost 40 vintage bikes on a 121 mile ride around the lake!!! We made 4 stops in all.
Heading out from the Flamingo hotel in Lake Okeechobee and then heading east and south around the Lake, we stopped in Pahokee to view the beautiful lake. Next stop was Clewiston for lunch. The Clewiston Inn put on quite a spread and we were all stuffed to the gills. After lunch we drove about 40 miles to the next stop, some of us got a little lost out there in the wilderness and nearly ended up fried from some fires in the cane fields. One guy said he saw what he thought were "black rats" running out from the fire until he realized they were "burnt bunnies" high tailing it out of there! At any rate, we all made safely back to the hotel around 4 pm or so and a great time was had by all. Look for the video's on YouTube. The first one is a slide show called Run Turkey Run, it's a short slide show just to keep all you vintage junkies at bay until we can finish the full feature film version. It was supposed to be called DIE TURKEY DIE but we were talked out of that title.
Listen, comment on our posts or email us so we know SOMEONE OUT THERE Is reading our posts and enjoying them!!! have a great Thanksgiving ya'all.

Barbie does Barber
Well, what a fantastic event this was and what a venue! I dont know where to start seeing how I got there a day late. I understand it rained on Friday and it was quite chilly all weekend.
The museum is awesome, beyond belief. I really needed another two day to really appreciate everything this motorsport park has to offer.
The track: Yes, Barbie, our beloved 1966 Honda CA77 305 and her "sister" Carmen, a 1963 Norton Electra both got to ride around the track TWICE thanks to the VJMC and the Confederate chapter of AHRMA. What a beautiful track! Swoops and elevation changes galore.Very little straights.
I can see why racers love to race, especially on this track. It really made me appreciate what I am watching on TV when I watch MOTOGP and AMA racing now. Both of the girls loved stretching their legs on this track and really felt special. Special thanks to Brian, the curator of Barber Museum and all around GREAT guy!
The Matchless group was there as well and they took good care of my husband and myself. Ike is a fantastic cook.
The vendors: Lots of em, good stuff and not expensive. We picked up new helmets and a new rain jacket for my husband for $150 total. what a deal!
Hubby got to go on a Ducati test drive. He said it was strapping a 1000cc to a dirt bike. He loved it. Thank you Ducati for the great ride and the espresso!
The park is so large I really didnt get to see it all. I could have used 2 more days to see and appreciate the entire place. All in all it was beautiful and we will go again.
We'd love to hear about your experience at Barber. So post a comment or drop me an email and we'll get it posted for you.
Next event is the Thanksgiving ride just north of Lake Okeechobee Florida. Contact us for details if you would like to go.

Barber Vintage Bike event
This week; we are off to Barber in Birmingham Alabama for the annual Vintage Bike Rally. Please be sure to stop in and say HI if you see our white van and numerous NORTONS. Carmen, our Electra will be there. She's won a ton of trophies this year, we'll see what she can do at this event.
I know there will be a LOT of fabulous bikes there and we cant wait to see them all.
Good luck to everyone attending, my friends at VJMC will also be there as well as some from INOA and AMCA, AHMA etc....
Be sure to send me your photos for the site and we'll definitely post them!
Look for our 1963 Norton Electra, our 1966 Honda Dream (white with a cool solo seat in camel) and our friends 1928 AJS (which I might try to steal from him, it's gorgeous!).
Live long, ride hard and prosper!
